Study of "Do-it-Yourself" Tattoo Fade Away Creams

Picture
The newest addition to the Tattoo Removal Industry has been the Do-It-Yourself tattoo fade away creams. As with all new products, this method has been the subject of many discussions within the industry. The main discussion being "Does tattoo fade away creams really work?" Here, at the Institute, we have decided to test these creams in order to give you reliable information.

The Test

We purchased products from different companies making tattoo fade away creams. The products were tested by volunteers for a period of 12 months. The volunteers were instructed to follow all directions as exactly given by the various companies. They reported back to us every month.

The Results

We found that, yes, in fact these tattoo removal creams actually do what they promise. There were two products that did quite well: TatBGone and Tattoo-OFF. These products lived up to the expectations of all the volunteer testers.

The most significant reported difference between Tattoo-OFF and Tat B Gone was that Tattoo-OFF was gentler to the skin. Tattoo-OFF credits this to having their products fortified with plant extracts. However, it took a little longer to completely fade the tattoo. A longer treatment time often translate into more expenses. Our feedback suggests that for people with sensitive skin it is probably worth the extra investment.

Tattoo-OFF comes in a two part system. Tat B Gone is a three part system. We asked each company if we could get results just using just 1 step. Both Tat B Gone and Tattoo-OFF responded to our anonymous e-mail with the same response. The companies both reaffirm that the instructions need to be followed to achieve any meaningful results.

Nonetheless, we decided to test the validity of this statement. Several volunteers were only given one of the steps to test. These volunteers reported that they did not see any significant results. This was the case for all single steps that were used .

One of the companies claims that this is the removal method of the future. After completing our test, we found ourselves in the very surprising position of agreeing with that company. Neither Tat B Gone nor Tattoo-OFF has any of the negatives usually associated with other tattoo removal methods. There was no scarring or pain involved.

By legal advice we do not mention non-effective products.
